A Family-Friendly Park in the Middle of Atlanta
As a partner in Nelson Mullins of Atlanta, attorney Michael Elliott Rubinger focuses on joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. As part of his community service, Michael Elliott Rubinger serves on the board of directors for the Little Nancy Creek Park.
The five-acre park is named after the creek that runs through it. Situated between the Atlanta neighborhoods of Historic Brookhaven and North Buckhead, the park provides recreation for an area that has few green spaces within walking distance. The park is the result of fundraising and planning efforts that began in 2007.
Its centerpiece is an 8,000-square-foot playground featuring slides, swings, and other play structures. Opening day in April 2012 brought in dozens of neighborhood children. Later activities for kids included a cheer camp and an Easter egg hunt.
Another attraction is a community garden with 19 plots. Food donations from the garden go to the Atlanta Food Bank and the Buckhead Christian Ministries.
Plans for other features included a 1.2-mile fitness trail, a wheelchair-accessible bridge, and an open-air pavilion.
